Sports itineraries and experiences in Trentino

Places to see on two wheels between Lake Garda and the Brenta Dolomites

A bicycle, two wheels, endless passion.

For cyclists and mountain bike enthusiasts, Trentino is more than a destination; it is one of the places to include in the “best places to visit” list.

Not only nature, but also culture, history, and tradition, for a region capable like few others of combining the spirit of adventure, beauty, and well-being in all their forms. Family rides, e-bike routes, exciting and adrenaline-fueled itineraries: the ideas and solutions for an active holiday combining sport and nature are truly endless! But before you set off, what should you pack in your backpack?

Here are our tips for your bike holiday in Trentino.

1. Postcards

Comano Terme is nestled in one of the region's most beautiful natural settings, the Giudicarie Valleys and the Adamello-Brenta Natural Park, the largest protected area in Trentino. Its strategic location allows you to set off every day with the curiosity to explore the territory from Lake Garda to the Brenta Dolomites – a UNESCO Natural World Heritage site – which includes natural settings and breathtaking views. Authentic “postcards” to keep in your memories, capable of bringing satisfaction and wonder with every glance.

2. Clothing for every occasion

This varied territory offers different routes.
Lakes, mountains, peaks, valleys, woods and pastures. The weather conditions often change as the landscape changes. Dress appropriately and don't be caught unprepared. Sun and good weather will accompany you on your most spectacular rides, such as the Dolomiti di Brenta Bike, but if you decide to test yourself and tackle the Dolomite section, be ready… the air will get decidedly cooler! Bring the right clothing, okay?

3. A tasty snack

Do you love “slow tourism” in contact with nature? Then there is nothing better than setting off in the morning after an energetic breakfast and letting yourself be carried through valleys and cultivated fields at the slow pace of the seasons. In your backpack, pack everything you need for a nice picnic between one pedal stroke and the next.
And if you are looking for a special place to stop and refuel, we recommend the Banale-Bleggio plateau, Lomaso and Fiavé, where you can enjoy a relaxing break.

4. Swimsuit

If you choose to reach Lake Garda by bicycle, take the opportunity to cool off with a nice swim or enjoy an exciting session of water sports. You will need your swimsuit even if your destinations are the many other lakes in the area: Lake Molveno, Lake Tenno, ….

5. A good book

If you prefer a relaxing ride, perhaps on an E-Bike, there is nothing more relaxing than stopping in one of the many Parks, lying down under a tree and dedicating yourself to your favorite reading, immersing your body and soul in the sounds of nature.
Do you love E-Bike cycling? Try the Banale tour, the Monte Casale tour or the Bleggio - Monte San Martino tour.

6. The territory guide

Bicycling in Comano Terme will lead you to explore not only nature, but also castles, many places of historical interest such as the Fiavé Pile Dwelling Museum and beautiful villages listed among the most beautiful in Italy, such as the medieval village of Rango.
For more challenging adventures, such as the Paganella Plateau and its MTB tours like Monte Gazza or road bike routes like the Passo del Ballino, it is essential to know how to orient yourself and always follow the right route, so make sure to have a reliable GPS system.
For all other information, contact the Visitor Centers, get a guide, or download the Adamello-Brenta Natural Park App for advice and updates on accessible trails.

7. Water bottle and helmet...even for the little ones

Fun on two wheels is guaranteed here even for children. Cycle paths such as those in Val Rendena, from Ragoli to Pinzolo, or the cycle path from the waterfalls in Val Genova to Ponte Pià, allow the whole family to ride beautiful trails in complete tranquility. Prepare to see the wonder in the eyes of the little ones as they learn the pleasure of outdoor life, made of freedom, knowledge of traditions and respect for nature. Make sure they always do it safely, so equip them with a well-fastened helmet and refill their baby water bottle.

8. The camera

Cheese! Trentino offers memorable views for dreamlike snapshots. Beautify your memory album with a trip to Lake Molveno, a true natural artistic canvas where you can also try birdwatching and enjoy a great natural offer of biodiversity. Surprise your friends by sharing your experience on social networks: a shower of likes awaits you on Instagram!

9. A repair kit

A true cycling enthusiast always carries a repair kit.
Especially if you choose more challenging routes such as dirt roads and forest roads, single trails, technical climbs and descents or significant elevation changes, before setting off check that you have what is necessary for minor emergencies.
And speaking of challenging itineraries, if you are looking for pure adrenaline, the Paganella Bike Park or the Passo della Morte are highly recommended, a 17.56 km tour and 450 m of elevation gain through the ancient medieval road that connected Sarche to the Giudicarie Esteriori. Starting from Comano Terme, you will venture onto a road that borders the northern area of Monte Casale and overlooks the Forra del Limarò up to the hermitage of Motte.

10. Water spray

An alternative to the forest breeze and the crisp air of the Brenta Dolomites always at hand? The real “must-have” in every athlete's backpack is the Comano Terme thermal water spray. Fresh, moisturizing and soothing, you can use it during breaks, especially in summer when the heat will be felt.

A myriad of things to do by bicycle, so many ideas for your summer in Comano Terme!
